About Us
The National Animal Sanctuaries Support League is an animal welfare charity operating across the whole of the UK. We work with approved animal sanctuaries to provide a rescue and rehoming service for unwanted pets and injured wildlife. We also raise funds and collect donations of food and goods to distribute to animal centres.
The Bristol branch was set up in 2000 to cover Wales and the South-West of England. Since then, we have helped dozens of sanctuaries carry out their vital work, and rescued thousands of animals.
We have even saved 10,000 battery chickens!

Lesley McMahon, co-ordinator of the South West and Wales branch of NASSL for over ten years explains how the role of NASSL has become a critical means of support for many of the rescues in this area.
"Doing just a little bit can help to end animal abuse. We are continually striving to help these rescues but first, all of them go through a rigorous approval process. Only when this process has been completed and we are 100% satisfied that they meet our requirements can they become part of NASSL."
Lesley works with a dedicated team of volunteers to provide support and resources to animal sanctuaries in the South West and Wales area.
